Students at Maiden Gully PS are now enjoying upgraded and modernised facilities to learn and play, thanks to a $5.3 million investment from the Allan Labor Government.

Member for Bendigo West Maree Edwards MP has officially opened facility upgrade works at the school, which included:

  • A new building with six new classrooms
  • Staff room and amenities
  • Refurbishment of existing amenities block

In 2020, the school was allocated $510,000 in planning funding from the Infrastructure Planning and Acceleration Fund, followed by $4.59 million in the 2020–21 State Budget.

The school has also received $200,000 from the Inclusive Schools Fund Round 5 2019-2020, bringing the total investment to $5.3 million since 2019.

Ms Edwards said she was proud to have worked alongside the school community to deliver this important upgrade project.

“Maiden Gully is a significant growth area for the Greater Bendigo region – so making sure we have school facilities to cater for the expected increase in enrolments is critical,” Ms Edwards said.

“I thank the school community and school Council for their advocacy of this project – I know what a difference it has made.

“Congratulations to the school Principal Craig Arrowsmith and the staff, and to the students who have continued with their education throughout the new build.

“Thank you also to the architects and builders for their brilliant work on this project.”

Since 2014, the Allan Labor Government has invested $12.8 billion in building new schools and more than 1,850 school upgrades, creating around 17,400 jobs in construction and associated industries.

The Government is ahead of schedule in opening 100 new schools by 2026, with 75 new schools opening between 2019 and 2024 – ensuring every student can access a great local school and a quality education no matter where they live.
