Member for Bendigo West Maree Edwards MP recently visited the Bendigo Men’s Shed to officially open their new Tea-Pod – an extension of their current tearoom that allows more members to connect, share stories, and enjoy a cuppa in a welcoming space.

Made possible by a grant of $9,866 through the Allan Labor Government’s Men’s Shed Funding Program, the new Tea-Pod enhances the existing facilities by easing congestion and improving accessibility, ensuring more members can enjoy the social benefits the shed provides.

““Men’s Sheds are more than just buildings – they are places of purpose, connection and community. Said Ms Edwards.

“The new Tea-Pod here will help more men come together and share their stories – increasing connection and building resilience.

“Congratulations to the Men’s Shed volunteers for their amazing work to make this project happen.”

The City of Greater Bendigo and private donors also contributed to the project. More than $860,000 is available through this year’s Men’s Shed Funding Program to build new sheds, upgrade or extend existing facilities, and purchase machinery and equipment to help sheds grow and thrive.

Past local grant recipients include the Mount Alexander Vintage Engine Club, who are constructing a purpose-built shed for community activities, and Newstead Men’s Shed, for an expansion to their building.

With more than 360 men’s sheds across Victoria, these vital community hubs continue to offer connection, inclusion, and support for men who may otherwise be at risk of social isolation.

The Labor Government’s Men’s Shed Funding Program has delivered more than 500 grants to date, supporting sheds and the work of the Victorian Men’s Shed Association.
