More kindergarten places are on the way for Marong families, with Member for Bendigo West Maree Edwards MP joining local representatives to mark a major milestone in the suburb’s growth.

Ms Edwards officially visited the site of the brand-new Marong Kindergarten for a mid-construction visit, which is on track to open in early 2026.

The $5.5 million early learning centre will include three kindergarten rooms, outdoor play areas, allied health spaces for maternal and child health services, and purpose-built facilities for staff, children and families.

“We’re working hard to address the need for three and four year kinder places across our community. said Ms Edwards.

“It’s great to see this project progressing in one of Bendigo’s key growth areas.”

Funded through the Victorian Government’s Building Blocks Capacity grant, the project will create up to 178 local kindergarten places—ensuring more children can access quality early education close to home. The facility will also play a vital role in supporting the roll-out of the Labor Government’s Best Start, Best Life reforms, which aim to transform early childhood education across the state.

Also attending the visit were Greater Bendigo Mayor Cr Andrea Metcalf, Lee Walsh from Franklin & Walsh Builders, and Russell McLean from the City of Greater Bendigo—each playing a key role in bringing this much-needed facility to life.

With Marong’s population expected to rise significantly in the coming years, this investment ensures the community’s youngest learners will have every opportunity to thrive from the very start.
