Member for Bendigo West Maree Edwards recently visited Castlemaine Primary School to announce that they are among 58 schools across Victoria that will share in $25 million for a range of small-scale refurbishments, such as bathroom, playground, and fencing repairs – through the latest round of the Labor Government’s Capital Works Fund 2024/25.
“This is fantastic news for Castlemaine Primary School. The Capital Works Fund support smaller-scale building projects that that have a big impact." Said Ms Edwards.
“I’m pleased that the school identified this project as a priority for the school.
“We are committed to enhancing learning environments in Victoria’s schools, making them modern, safe and fit for purpose – giving every child the best chance to succeed.
“Every student deserves world class facilities at their school. We will continue to invest in renovating school facilities, making sure we meet the needs of every child.
“Every family wants the best for their kids – the best education in state-of-the-art facilities. Our record investment in school infrastructure is delivering for our hard-working school communities in the Education State.”
Castlemaine Primary School will receive $499,879 to refurbish toilet facilities at the school.
The project will include the refurbishment of the existing amenities as well as creating a new gender-neutral toilet.
The Allan Labor Government is delivering students in Castlemaine the first-class facilities they deserve, supporting better learning outcomes with upgrades and maintenance rolling out to schools across the state.
The Labor Government has invested $16.9 billion over the past 10 years to build new schools and deliver more than 2,000 school upgrades − supporting more than 26,000 jobs in construction and associated industries.
We are getting on with the job of building new schools as we gear up to open 100 new schools by 2026.
The Victorian School Building Authority will work with successful schools from early 2025 to deliver their projects.
All construction is set to be finished by the end of May 2026.
